MITCHELL, S.D. – South Dakota Highway Patrol troopers are increasing their presence around school buses and routes as part of a statewide school bus safety campaign.
Mitchell Middle School says officers may occasionally ride along on bus routes as part of the routine effort.
The campaign is designed to encourage drivers to use caution around school buses and watch for stopped buses and flashing red lights.
The school says there is no cause for concern and thanked law enforcement for helping keep students safe as they travel to and from school.
