A 26 year old Mitchell man has been arrested for first-degree manslaughter after a 59 year old man died Tuesday. Mitchell Police say Dylan Reid Thompson was originally charged with aggravated assault following an altercation outside Thirsty’s Bar around 11:30 last Thursday night. It appears Thompson struck the victim causing him to fall to the ground striking his head. Police say the two were involved in an altercation inside the bar which apparently continued outside. Thompson apparently ran from the scene and was later arrested.
He was arrested Tuesday at the Davison County Public Safety building without incident. He’s charged with unnecessarily causing the death of the victim. Police say the investigation is continuing.
First Degree Manslaughter is punishable by life in prison and or a $50,000 fine.
