A soil ecologist says cover crops could be key to stabilizing climate variability.
Dr. Christine Jones tells Brownfield a heat dome effect has started
taking place in regions with more bare ground like her homeland in Australia
where it was 127 degrees over the weekend.
“We certainly see that in Australia in this last summer. We have just had horrific temperatures and we have a lot of bare ground over summer.”
On the other hand, she says where there has been more green
plants since European settlement, there’s been an increase in rainfall and
reduction in temperature.
