February started wet and warm for most of Ohio but ended more seasonally.
The USDA says statewide temperatures averaged more than 3 degrees warmer than normal, but average precipitation was almost 3 inches above usual levels, leaving most of the state with excessive soil moisture levels.
Conditions further delayed the tail end of the corn and soybean harvest, caused ponding in low-lying fields, and slowed down fieldwork.
36% of Ohio’s winter wheat crop is in good to excellent condition, compared to 71% a year ago.
