A cattle disease traceability pilot project in Kansas, which could serve as a model for a national traceability program, is making good progress, according to one of the organizers.
Kansas Livestock Association CEO Matt Teagarden says 32-thousand ultra-high frequency ear tags have been distributed across the cattle supply chain as part of the CattleTrace project. And he says tag readers have been installed at several participating feed yards and livestock markets.
“We have seven auction markets, all with readers installed—and we have 14 feed yards that are participating in the project.
