Minnesota rancher concerned about gas tax proposal

A north-central Minnesota rancher is concerned about a 20

cent per-gallon gas tax proposed by Governor Tim Walz.

Miles Kuschel, who runs a beef cow/calf ranch 20 miles east of Sebeka, says fuel is a costly input.

“In the last three days we’ve probably burned over 500 gallons of fuel, so a 20-cent tax increase, especially on top of our road tax when we talk about our farm vehicles that go on the highway, that’s definitely going to hurt the bottom line.”

He tells Brownfield there are other funding sources the Governor can tap into.
