The Missouri Agribusiness Association (MO-AG) is pleased with a bill introduced this session (HB 588) to increase pesticide registration and some other agriculture fees.
Mo-Ag director Steve Taylor tells Brownfield they worked
with the Ag Department and a task force last year to improve last year’s
proposed legislation, “For some years now, the department receives less and
less general revenue and it’s just a sad fact it’s more dependent on fees.”
Taylor says the proposed fee increases are reasonable, “What we wanted, and I think what’s in this bill, is that every program pays for itself.”
Taylor says some of the ag user fees have not been increased
since 1972.
