An economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City says they are seeing more farmland on the market this winter.
Cortney Cowley says while farmland prices have been surprisingly stable, the question is whether demand will keep pace with the increased supply in 2019.
“Even though we still appear to be in an environment where there is still a lot of demand, if we start to see an increase in volumes—or that volume continues to increase moving forward—that could be concerning, I think, for the outlook for the ag economy and for agricultural finance as well,” she says.
