A leading motor fuels expert expects rapid growth in the number of fuel stations offering E15, once year-round sales of the ethanol blend are approved.
“I think E15 has great upward trajectory,” says John Eichberger, executive director of the Fuels Institute.
Eichberger thinks the number of E15 stations in the U.S. will increase from the current two-thousand into “the tens of thousands”.
“We’ve seen slow growth. E15 was approved in 2011 and we’re only at two-thousand stores right now—that’s snail’s pace,” he says.
