The USDA says red meat stocks in cold storage at the end of January were down 1% on the year at 1.120 billion pounds. Pork was down 3% at 562.71 million pounds, while beef was up 2% at 510.065 million, because of differences in demand.
Total poultry was slightly lower at 1.25 billion pounds, with chicken declining 4% to 842.18 million and turkey rising 4% to 389.185 million pounds.
No new record highs or lows were established during the month for the meats.
