President Trump is threatening to raise tariffs if agriculture is not included in U.S.-European Union trade talks.
EU officials have said
they will focus only on industrial goods.
In a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, a bipartisan group of lawmakers say any deal that does not include agriculture would be unacceptable and would not receive Congressional support.
Ken Isley, administrator of the USDA’s Foreign Ag Service, says the administration has been consistent that agriculture must be included.
