We’re getting a better idea what to expect when a major winter storm arrives in the region starting on Wednesday. National Weather Service Meteorologist Andrew Kalin tells KORN News Radio precipitation is forecast to start about daybreak on Wednesday and continue into Friday.
He says the Mitchell area could see a little bit of rain mixed in at times. “But it looks like mainly a snow event out there,” said Kalin. “We have winter storm watches in effect starting early tomorrow (Wednesday) morning and continuing…into at least early Friday.”
He says early estimates put total snow accumulation in the Mitchell area at between eight and twelve inches. Kalin says winds will be a factor with the system as blowing snow will make travel difficult.
