Dakota Wesleyan Downs Dordt in Four Sets to Open GPAC Play

MITCHELL, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan volleyball secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Dordt (IA) on Wednesday evening at the Christen Family Athletic Center, winning by set scores of 25-20, 15-25, 25-18, 25-23.

With the win, Dakota Wesleyan improved to 12-1 overall and 1-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) play.

Madisyn Grimsrud led the Tigers’ offensive attack with a match-high 13 kills and a .194 hitting percentage, while adding two block assists. Evy Knoblock contributed nine kills and a service ace, and Karly VanDerWerff chipped in seven kills and three blocks. Setter Kayleigh Hybertson orchestrated the offense with 31 assists and two service aces, and Lizzie Tyler anchored the back row with 17 digs.

For Dordt, Ellie Weg posted a team-best eight kills and seven blocks. Tavyn Sichmiller and Haley Kuperus each added eight and seven kills, respectively, while setters Chloe Huisman and Carlee Jackson handed out 19 assists apiece. Kylie Beckering led all defensive players with a match-high 23 digs.
