10-Year-Old Accidentally Shoots Man in the Buttocks During Deer Hunt in Minnesota

During the opening weekend of the youth deer hunting season in Minnesota, a 10-year-old accidentally shot and seriously injured a 50-year-old man named Gary Peters.

The incident occurred as Peters was instructing the child to unload a bolt action Ruger .270 caliber rifle.

The child squeezed the trigger, causing the rifle to discharge while Peters was in the line of fire.

The bullet struck Peters, passing through both buttocks.

Deputies from the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, and Peters was subsequently airlifted to a Fargo hospital with serious injuries.
