U.S. egg production declined from 2022 to 2023.
The USDA says that for the year ending November 30th, 2023, production totaled 109.526 billion eggs, slightly lower than the previous year, with a larger number of laying hens, up to 382.338million head, canceled by lower average production at 286 eggs per layer.
From the total, table egg production was down modestly and hatching eggs fell by 1%.
The commercial broiler inventory on December 1st, 2023 was 523 million head, up 1% on the year.
