A chilly pattern to dominate the Corn Belt; some temp moderation on the Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures in much of the eastern half of the U.S., while warmer-than-normal weather will dominate the West, except along the Pacific Coast. 

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation across much of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal conditions in a strip extending from the north-central U.S. to the southern Appalachians, including parts of the southern and western Corn Belt.
