A cooler, drier weather pattern ahead for the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of above-normal temperatures in Maine, the West, and the Deep South, while cooler-than-normal conditions will cover the Midwest and neighboring regions, including the eastern Plains, mid-South, and mid-Atlantic.

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal weather in parts of the Southeast and from the Pacific Northwest into the upper Midwest.
