A far more active weather pattern for the Heartland set to resume later this week

A generally quiet weather pattern across much of the country will become suddenly more active as the week progresses.  Initially, storminess will increase by the middle of the week in the Pacific Coast States, with the heaviest precipitation expected across northern California and the Pacific Northwest.  Meanwhile, a disturbance crossing the Deep South will generate some rain along and near the Gulf Coast.

Late in the week, however, a stronger storm system traversing the South will produce significant precipitation, with wet snow possible along the northern edge of the precipitation shield, from the southern High Plains to the central Appalachians and portions of middle Atlantic States.
