A late-Winter look and feel over parts of the Heartland

Across the Corn Belt, freezes—accompanied by gusty winds—occurred Monday morning in most Midwestern areas west of the Mississippi River.  Snow is falling early Monday in portions of the Great Lakes region, while a chilly rain is falling in the Ohio Valley.  Spring fieldwork remains stalled by low soil temperatures and wet field conditions.

On the Plains, freezes were noted Monday morning throughout the northern half of the region, with temperatures near 10°F reported in deeply snow-covered sections of North Dakota.
