Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near or above-normal temperatures across the western and central U.S., while colder-than-normal conditions will prevail in the western Gulf Coast region and most areas east of the Mississippi River.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation in much of the country should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather across the High Plains, portions of the south-central U.S., and from the middle Mississippi Valley into the Great Lakes region.
