A pattern shift ahead to chillier days for most of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures in the central U.S., while warmer-than-normal weather will prevail in the West and portions of the Atlantic Coast States. 

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation across much of the country, including most areas from the Pacific Coast to the Plains and Midwest, should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions across much of the Deep South and the Atlantic Coast States.
