Iowa ethanol plants had another record-breaking year in 2018, producing 4.35 billion gallons. That’s up from 4.2 billion in 2017.
Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw says the increased production was due largely to record ethanol exports. But he says that good news was offset by small refinery exemptions to the RFS and the trade dispute with China, which have stunted margins for ethanol producers.
