The President and CEO with the National Council of Farmers Cooperative says the next farm bill needs to allocate more funds for market development programs.
Chuck Conner says it’s been 13 years since Congress included more dollars and commodity prices have declined. “We need exports badly right now.”
He says more funding would support his members and producers. “We’ve got to move product. Over the next couple of years in order to keep farmers going at this point, those market development funds that co-ops use to help export are key to that.”
Conner says dairy and sugar beet farmers will need extra assistance in Title I, too.
