A return to more seasonal temperatures, rainfall across much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions in portions of the central Plains and Midwest.

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal rainfall across the central and southern Plains and much of the eastern half of the U.S. should contrast with drier-than-normal weather in the southern half of Texas, the northern High Plains, and the West.
