A stubborn low-pressure system over the Great Lakes region will maintain chilly, breezy conditions for much of the week across the Midwest and Northeast, accompanied by spotty rain and snow showers.
Scattered Midwestern freezes could linger at least through Thursday, especially in the Ohio Valley and the Great Lakes region.
Meanwhile, an early-season hot spell in the West will gradually end, as cooler air and scattered showers spread eastward. During the mid- to late-week period, showers will return across portions of the central and southern Plains, eventually expanding into the Southeast.
