The American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) is trying to make a scientific case for corn-based ethanol as a tool to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. ACE CEO Brian Jennings tells Brownfield they’ve issued a White Paper to Senate Ag Committee leadership highlighting the economic and scientific opportunities U.S. farmers and biofuel producers hold to support climate change mitigation while getting the rural economy back on track. “What the White Paper does is dissects all of the various factors that go into making the determination about the life-cycle carbon footprint of corn ethanol.” He says as Congress tackles climate change, the current economic stakes intensify the need for policies that provide a meaningful return on investment.
