A certified crop advisor has some advice for farmers looking into carbon market programs.
Mark Lefebvre tells Brownfield the ease of application is important.
“That’s one thing that can be a barrier, the time commitment for actually entering the data.”
He says farmers should find out if additionality is required.
“The requirement of adopting a new practice and the timing of signup. Some markets or some companies are maybe stricter on that than others it seems like.”
And Lefebvre says the question of how much will be paid for the credits needs to be asked.
