A
North Dakota Senator has asked Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue to deem USDA loan
programs “essential” so producers have access to credit during the government
shutdown.
Ag Appropriations Committee Chairman John Hoeven says he spoke to Perdue this week about the importance of continuing essential USDA loan programs.
Hoeven says with the closure of FSA county and state offices,
producers will not have access to programs that provide them with the cash flow
to operate. The Senator asked Perdue to have USDA work with the Office of
Management and Budget to deem these loan programs essential so these loan
applications can be processed.
