Students at an inner-city school that focuses on agricultural education make holiday gifts to help support the school’s programs and FFA projects.
Monica Gahan teaches animal science and other courses at Milwaukee Vincent High School. She tells Brownfield the students started making the unique items several years ago. “My boss came in and said let’s make goat’s milk lotion, and from goat’s milk lotion, we went to bees wax lip balm to soy candles, to soy candles, to dog treats, to dog toys, to cat toys, to freeze dried Skittles, to just about anything else we can put together.”
Gahan says along with usual classroom work and taking care of live animals in school, the high schoolers learn skills they can use later in life.
