Agronomist says crop conditions remain variable

INTERVIEW: Scott Dickey, Beck’s Agronomist

An agronomist says crop conditions have been variable across the Corn Belt.

Scott Dickey (pictured above) with Beck’s says some crops have recovered from widespread drought that occurred through late June.

“You look at kernel counts on some of these fields that haven’t fully developed yet and they’re really hanging in there nicely,” he said. “So, it’s been interesting to see in the rainfall areas where we had been dry, things look very nice actually and with these cooler temperatures we’ve had here recently, I think that’s helping us out quite a bit.”

But, he tells Brownfield, “We’ve struggled in some of the areas I cover, especially in southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri,” Dickey said.
