Agronomist shares tips to produce 80 to 100 bushel soybeans consistently

An Iowa Agronomist says there are three agronomic management keys to producing 80 to 100 bushel soybeans consistently.

Dan Bjorklund with MaxYield Cooperative tells brownfield looking at genetic selections comes first.

“We go for the highest yielding products that we can and then we need to look agronomically, will they fit my particular field?”

He says developing a strong root system is the most important part.

“Because if you think of the plant as a factory, the root system is the assembly line that brings in the raw materials that allows that plant to harvest sunlight.”

The other key is striving to get the most nodes possible on a plant.
