Ample soil moisture in Ohio

Ohio’s winter wheat crop condition ratings improved during January, despite wetter than normal weather.

The USDA says 78% of the crop is in good to excellent shape, a jump of 24% on the month, even with a lack of snow cover and heavy precipitation, most of that in the form of rain.

Nearly the entire state has adequate to surplus soil moisture levels, which has led to minor flooding in low lying areas and parts of the state near bodies of water.
