An intensifying storm system currently crossing the central Plains will reach the upper Mississippi Valley by early Sunday.
Subsequently, the storm will drift northeastward into Canada and weaken, although a trailing system will follow a similar path—from the central Plains into the Great Lakes States—early next week.
As a result, 5-day rainfall totals could reach 1 to 3 inches or more across a broad area, including the Midwest and the northern half of the Plains, leading to additional planting delays and possible flooding.
