Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures between the Rockies and Appalachians, while cooler-than-normal conditions will cover the middle and southern Atlantic States and the Far West. 

Meanwhile, above-normal precipitation across the Deep South and from California to the Plains should contrast with drier-than-normal weather in the Pacific Northwest and from the middle and upper Mississippi Valley eastward to the Atlantic Coast States from Virginia to Maine.
