An ag trader says he has a fairly optimistic outlook for producers. Tommy Grisafi with Advanced Trading says, “If we have the bushels things will be good, even with lower prices.”
He tells Brownfield South America continues to be a large factor in the market. “We are in a weather market,” he says. “We have seen better demand. So the two are playing. We had extra beans, demand picked up, South America is having a problem and all eyes are on this weather situation.
He says the story is a little different for beef and pork. “It’s never been more expensive to produce a pound of beef or pork,” he says. “There is some benefit that the price of corn has come down a lot, but there is the bad side effect that meal has gone up a lot.”
Brownfield spoke with Grisafi during the 2023 NAFB Annual Meeting in Kansas City.
