Another down week for broilers

Broiler hatchery data continues to point to tighter supplies of chicken later this year as the industry tries to improve profitability.

The USDA says 237.683 million broiler type eggs were placed into incubators last week, 1% below a year ago, with average hatchability steady at just over 80%.

Placements of broiler type chicks into meat production were 179.473 million head, 2% less than last year, with 2023-to-date placements down 1% on the year.
