Approval of Illinois hemp regulations expected by 2019 growing season

The Illinois Department of Agriculture expects the state’s proposed industrial hemp regulations, released last month, to be complete in time for the 2019 growing season.

“The typical planting season is around June 1st. So, we are hopeful that we can get these rules approved in time for people to be licensed by mid-May or so.”

Jeff Cox, Bureau Chief of Medicinal Plants says the proposed regulations include fees and licensing to grow the crop.
