AquaBounty Technologies:  salmon labeling provision is unnecessary, vague

The president and CEO of AquaBounty Technologies says a provision in the House-passed spending bill that would require genetically modified salmon to be labeled as genetically engineered is unnecessary.

Sylvia Wulf says the

company has always supported transparent labeling of their bioengineered salmon,

but the provision introduced by Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski is vague and

singles out the company.  

“We’ve never disputed the requirement to label and help consumers understand what the food is they’re consuming,” she says.
