The president and CEO of AquaBounty Technologies says a provision in the House-passed spending bill that would require genetically modified salmon to be labeled as genetically engineered is unnecessary.
Sylvia Wulf says the
company has always supported transparent labeling of their bioengineered salmon,
but the provision introduced by Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski is vague and
singles out the company.
“We’ve never disputed the requirement to label and help consumers understand what the food is they’re consuming,” she says.
