Avian influenza returns to Wisconsin

Highly pathogenic avian influenza has returned to Wisconsin.

After a year and ten days without a new case, there are now two new cases in the state.  A backyard flock of five birds contracted the disease in Taylor County November 17th, and a commercial flock near Galesville in Trempealeau County was reported Tuesday.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection officials are working with USDA to depopulate 51,352 birds at the Galesville farm.
