Bayer has alerted its customers that a supplier of a raw ingredient needed to produce glyphosate has suffered a mechanical failure which might have some short-term impacts on Bayer’s production. Bayer expects the repairs to take about three months.
In a statement to Brownfield, Bayer says the supplier is “on track to restore production” and Bayer has sourced additional materials and made other mitigation efforts to manage the situation. The company says it expects any impact on its annual glyphosate production to be “marginal.”
Bayer says the Roundup branded supply will continue to “be balanced through the current ongoing supply management efforts.”
Bayer says it has been working with customers to help manage supplies and “best meet their needs around the world” throughout the historically tight supply issues caused by the pandemic and other forces.
