The Biden administration has announced new investments to help combat wildfires.
USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack calls this an important day as $500 million is being invested into the agency’s Forest Service Wildfire Crisis Strategy.
“Several years ago the U.S. Forest Service established a science-based roadmap for reducing the risk of hazardous fires. We established 21 priority landscapes, and within those landscapes roughly 250 key fire sheds for investments.”
He says tools and resources to protect lives and livelihoods will be delivered across a vast, shared landscape.
