The Biden administration has submitted a pair of nominations to the US Senate for key USDA posts.
President Biden nominated Stacy Dean to serve as Agriculture undersecretary for nutrition and Margo Schlanger to serve as assistant secretary for civil rights at the USDA.
Both were previously nominated but were never confirmed by the Senate. Dean was originally nominated in May of 2022 and was never given a confirmation hearing and Schlanger went all of 2022 without a floor vote.
Dean and Schlanger currently work at the USDA, Dean as the deputy undersecretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services and Schlanger as the senior advisor, Office of Congressional Relations.
