Buchanan County has been granted the Missouri Farmers Care Agri-Ready Designation.
The designation identifies counties conducive to agricultural opportunity which
actively support Missouri agriculture.
County Farm Bureau board member Vernon Hart calls Buchanan County a prime place
for agriculture, with stockyards, grain elevators and an ethanol plant among
other agribusinesses.
The most recent data says Buchanan County generated $5.5 billion in agriculture
sales in 2016 supporting almost 11,000 local jobs. The county’s ag production
is primarily soybeans, corn and cattle.
