Budget lines drawn as Minnesota Legislature enters final week

Lines have been drawn with about a week to go in the 2019

Minnesota Legislative Session.

House Ag Committee chair Jeanne Poppe says while the Speaker of the House and Governor Walz seem to be on the same page, Senate leadership has a far different view on the budget.

“It’s hard to know if those are lines in the sand or really lines in cement. And that’s up to those three leaders to really negotiate and listen to each other and try to figure out if there’s an opportunity to get to a resolution.”

She tells Brownfield the biggest sticking points center on

taxes, specifically the provider tax, gas tax, and conformity to the federal code.
