Carbon pipeline permit application denied in SD

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has rejected a permit application for the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline, which would transport carbon from ethanol plants across 5 states to permanent storage.

That rejection came Monday, cancelling the weeklong hearing that was scheduled. The commission said there were county ordinance violations and Summit Carbon Solutions said it intends to refine its proposal and reapply for a permit.

In an interview last month, Summit Carbon Solutions CEO Lee Blank told Brownfield transparency is important in the permitting process.
