Cash basis remains strong in northwest Iowa

Basis levels remain strong in some parts of the Midwest.

Northwest Iowa corn and soybean grower Jim Boyer says he markets to several area ethanol and soybean crush plants.

“We’ve seen times this summer (where basis is) $1.35 to $1.40 over Chicago (depending) on when you market it. Last June there were some excellent opportunities to market your 2022 crop into 2023.”

The Emmet County farmer tells Brownfield there have been corn bids over $8.50 per bushel within the last year.
