At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live cattle futures closed higher on short-covering ahead of widespread direct cash business. Feeder cattle were mostly higher on the same factors. August live cattle closed $.60 higher at $109.05 and October live cattle closed $.72 higher at $109.87. August feeder cattle closed $.02 higher at $142.20 and September feeder cattle closed $.02 higher at $142.45.
Another quiet day of direct cash cattle trade activity. Bids and asking prices have yet to surface.
