Cattle futures bounce back after recent losses

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were sharply higher, bouncing back after the recent slide. December live cattle closed $2.87 higher at $171.65 and February lives closed $4 higher at $172.82.  January feeder cattle closed $8.25 higher at $221.05 and March feeders closed $7.20 higher at $223.50.

There was another light round of direct cash cattle business reported on Tuesday.  Deals in Kansas and Texas were marked at $175 live, fully steady with Monday’s business, but $2 below the prior week’s weighted averages.
