Cattle futures mixed ahead of widespread direct business

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were mixed ahead of the week’s direct cash business.  December live cattle closed $.27 higher at $178.62 and February lives closed $.12 lower at $180.85.  November feeders closed $.37 lower at $235.42 and January feeders closed $.85 lower at $234.85.

Direct cash cattle trade activity was pretty quiet on Tuesday.  The lone bid to have surfaced was in the North at $290 dressed, asking prices were never fully established.
