At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live cattle futures closed firm in a narrow trading range and feeder cattle futures were mixed. The market lacks direction and there is some pressure carrying over from the wholesale beef values. October live cattle closed $.20 higher at $110.15 and December contracts were unchanged at $114.42. September feeder cattle closed $.45 lower at $152.52 and October feeder cattle closed $.27 lower at $152.67.
Direct cash cattle trade is quiet as new showlists are evaluated.
